| Zen Cart is a powerful open source shopping cart application which can be customized to meet almost any need. I am a professional developer who writes extensions for Zen Cart, so my opinion could be considered biased, but I would recommend Zen Cart over osCommerce or PrestaShop, which I have also done work on. | |

| From a business perspective, Zen Cart is one of the most extensible open source eCommerce platforms available. It is a great fit for small-to-medium sized businesses, as it provides a framework to quickly support your online business. Excellent extensions and 3rd party tool support to provide business service support. From a development perspective; if you have a service provider that are skilled in PHP development and LAMP stack, then this eCommerce platform is for you. |

| Set-up and installation is a breeze. Many web hosts provide a one-click installation. The software is free as are many add-ons. Many popular features are included by default including various shipping methods, billing methods, product reviews, gift certificates, coupons etc. It is very flexible and almost every option or feature can be edited to fit your exact need. There is an active community supporting both the cart and both the free and paid add-ons. For those not skilled in PHP, HTML and MySQL there are numerous avenues to find paid support. |

| If you are looking for relatively easy to customize shopping cart with good features zen cart is good. It also have active community support. Zen Cart is good if you are looking for small - medium budget eCommerce solution. Out of the box it's design is not so good. | |

| Great Learning Curve. Great Support from (local) forums. Lots of free open source addons. ood SEO. Secure. Ugly default front end. Backend can be better. Less Google Integration (Merchant Center, Analytics, Developer Tools (sitemap)), with add ons possible. Product type difficult to use (in common). No Cherry Picker, Compare, Wishlist, Cross-sell, Up-sell integration, with some addons possible. | |
