Mozy Review: It's Free

Free 2GB backup storage that I have been able to up to 3.6 GB by referrals. A simple solution for lower volume offsite backup. I have referred to family, friends and coworkers, all who are using. Really gives you peace of mind that you have a quick way to back up key data offsite. Even though the free data amount is not tremendous, it is really ample for my core set of both work and personal documents. All online reviews give it high marks for security too.

The only reason that I don't give Mozy 5 stars is that sometimes it seems to start including data that I have not indicated that I want to backup, but I can fix this with little trouble.

Mozy is VERY Slow

I found the Mozy backup to be on the slow side - I have a data connection of 10M and found a backup of a 20 gig group of files (pictures) taking up to 13 hours.

Inside Perspective on Mozy Pro

My company provided Mozy Pro as a backup solution to clients. I am no longer with that company - so no bias here. Mozy was sold at a rate of $0.50 per gig and provided extremely easy set-up (simple installation of client on desktop and servers) and customizable as to the content and frequency of data backup.

Compared to onsite back-ups,(zenith BDR/Barracuda) mozy was certainly the most cost effective for smaller companies - though larger companies or those requiring high volume data backup should consider barracuda devices for the most cost effective and simple on site devices.

Customer service was rarely necessary, but mozy was responsive when required.

Mozy Online Backup Saves the Day

I recently had a complete loss of data on my main computer and had to do completely wipe the hard drive. I am still in the process of restoring my data from my Mozy account but so far I can say that I've been completely relieved that my data was backed up. I was able to access files and data that I needed immediately and when I encountered some files that I was not able to retrieve their support team has been very responsive in helping me to get all of my data. I love the prices that allows me up to three computers and 125 GB of storage space for just under $10/month which is a very affordable option for a small business owner like me.

I just want real time backup of my data. I am a full time programmer employed with a USA based company. I do freelancing as well. I want daily backup. This product is newbie friendly. No technical knowledge required. Setup is easy.
