| I have been playing around with Google+ all morning, and this is so far the coolest innovation I've seen. Particularly the Hangouts feature, which creates rooms for you to hang out with your friends, coworkers, or any of your social circles. I have tried out various video conferencing solutions before—like Skype's subscription-required, clunky group video calling—and they've never really worked that well. Google+ Hangouts, on the other hand, has so far been really impressive. In fact, the main stumbling block so far seems to be related more to slower connections than to the tool itself. |

| If you're conducting a small meeting and want videoconferencing, screen sharing, and several other handy features, you can't beat Google+ Hangouts for the price--which is free. Google keeps adding features, so this is definitely one to keep an eye on. The video and audio quality are very good. Pro: * Free * Good quality audio and video, generally reliable connections * Integrates with Google Docs, YouTube videos, Slide Share * Includes chat as well as video * Mobile-friendly: join the conference from your iPhone or Android phone. Con: * Limited to 10 participants * No built-in recording function: you need to use Camtasia or a similar 3rd-party product * Participants all have to have Google+ accounts--not as good for the less geeky. |

| Here at digital marketing agency Intergage we have weekly meetings and learning workshops. Occurring every Thursday lunchtime, colleagues attend from all departments across both office locations (Dorset and Hampshire). Known as LTL (lunchtime learning) we have historically used web and teleconferencing services (WebEx), but recently we have trialled and successfully used Google+ Hangouts! Google+ Hangouts are informal and instant video chats. They are very simple to use and join, but most importantly they are instant and they work really well! From within your Google+ Stream you can simply start a Hangout by clicking the “Start a Hangout” button located on the right-hand side of your Stream. Then you just invite people or promote the fact that you are available to hangout. Invite either groups of people by using Circles or specify individuals from within the Circles. No one owns or controls a Hangout. If you start the Hangout, all you are is an instigator not the controller or host. Anyone within the Hangout can invite others or promote it to their Circles that they are in a Hangout. So who joins and a Hangout is very broad and devise. But the maximum amount of people who can Hangout at any time is you plus nine others. This is a sensible number of people to keep the conversations manageable and worthwhile. If you invite less than 25 people to a Hangout a notification will appear in those individuals Google bar within their browser. If they have Chat enabled in Google+ a IM will be sent to them. Additionally it will also appear in yours and their Stream, so no need to e-mail and call people on the phone to arrange an impromptu or instant video chat. Once the Hangout has started you can share and collaborate on documents via Google docs. Or watch a YouTube video together with a ‘push to talk’ button if you wish to comment on what you are watching. Hangout participants don’t have to have or use a webcam, as they can still be involved and use the messaging function. Uses and suggestions for how Google+ Hangouts can be used for external and internal uses for small business are broad and wide ranging. |

| I very much like the set up process for my Google+ Hangout. It is very easy to work with as long as you have the correct items to make it work, such as, a good internet connection and a good camera and a lot of associates to work with. I am very satisfied. It has great potential. | |

| Google chats or hangouts are very easy to use and set the only challenge is that not many people or many clients are on Google+ as they feel they don't need one more network to work at. I like how it is customized and the clarity with which it works. I have never used their customer service yet as I didn't need to. I like the fact that I can have a direct connection to talk to others either by voice or visually through video conferencing. | |
